I am new to playing a flute. Where do I begin?

    • A good place to begin your flute journey is by watching some of the recommended teachers on YouTube. The search would be “beginner 6 hole flute”. We recommend teachers like Clint Goss and Jonny Lipford, for their clear, engaging instruction.

Is learning a flute hard?

    • You get what you put into it. We recommend practicing daily, for at least 10 mins.

I have my Rare Bird Flute, now what?

    • Every time you pick your flute up to play, make sure the bird(s) are in their correct position to achieve optimal sound (adjust if necessary). You may also have to check leather and tighten.
    • When not being used, it needs to be kept in an environment with constant temperature (wood moves with temperature change). This will ensure that this flute lasts a lifetime.
    • General maintenance: your flute is finished with General Finishes hard wax oil, osmos, water based polyurethane, and shellac. It is not necessary to reapply finish.
    • Cleaning:  it is recommended to remove the bird(s) and wipe under the bird(s) with a soft cloth, depending on the frequency of use. Once a month, if not played often. If you are playing daily, you may want to do this every few weeks.
